Percussionist

Since the age of 10 I have been a drummer. Growing up I played in the school concert bands, orchestras, and marching bands. It was in college that I found a love for African drumming. At the State University College at Brockport I studied under "Master Drummer" Stephen Collins. He took me under is wing and I soon became his protege. Throughout my college years I studied, toured and performed with Sankofa African Drum and Dance Ensemble.

In 1991 and 1993 I had the opportunity to travel to Ghana, West Africa to study at the University of Legon, under the direction of the National Drum and Dance company of Ghana. During these educational trips I learned more about the African culture and its music.

After graduating from college in 1993, I continued to study and perform African music. In 1994 I co-founded the Nassau/Queens Drum & Dance organization, which to this day is still in existance. In 1994 I also formed, directed and produced a drumming show called the Rainbow Rhythmn Ensemble. This ensemble soon became a group called Sewa Folee', a drumming group focusing primarily on West African drumming.

Over the past several years other interest and priorities have not afforded me the opportunity to keep up with my drumming. I do plan on getting back into my role as a drummer in the near future.

If you would like to now more about my drumming or have questions please contact me.
